Hey, Britt - thx for this series - I'm in Bakersfield, but have been following online. A friend and I were talking the other day about all the suffering we see - the homeless, the downtrodden, the poor, the miserable, right here in America - and how we kinda feel guilty that the Lord has allowed our quality of life to be so much better. But we don't hang out in those circles and neither of us have heard God call us to go minister "downtown" - so we were having a hard time reconciling that. (We're both involved in lots of other ministry opportunities.) Do we just go volunteer at the homeless center or pregnancy center or something, even tho that's not specifically what we're hearing from the Lord? And as we talked, the Lord just began to speak through us to one another - that we need to be faithful (on mission) to what the Lord has already called us to, AND to be listening, flexible, and ready to move when He says move. So, no guilt, no fear that we're somehow deluding ourselves into a complacent, easy lifestyle - just listen and obey. Live Christ exactly where He has already put us - whether that's easy street or not. Not being "need driven" but rather driven by His will, from today's message, really confirmed that in me. My 18-yr-old son just moved to Kenya on mission with AIC and Calvary Chapel radio ministry there, and, among other things, is going to be documenting (filming) their ministry in the slums of Nairobi. A totally different calling from my cush life here, but both of ours are just as valid. Thanks again -
Kept by grace,
Kay

Ha! Wrote the above comment yesterday - then came the opportunity to help out "downtown" at a new church plant's first-ever service, loving on little ones in Jesus' Name. Ha-stinkin'-larious! What a Great God! I just love Him.
