We have been so incredibly blessed and impressed to see the way that so many of you have responded to the Spirit's call on our Reality Church Campuses to be on mission! Many of you are really stepping out of your comfort zones and are also being very creative in your missional endeavors. Good job!

Some of you also have big vision that needs the partnership of more people in the body. Along those lines, we have run into a bit of a difficulty logistically. Quite a few people have been coming to the staff and leadership at Reality with wonderful ideas and asking us to either help implement them or just implement them ourselves. We understand why this happens, and that the staff makes sense as a point of access to the broader body of the church, but here are the problems with that:

1. We feel that according to Ephesians 4:11-12 our job is to equip the body to actually do the work of the ministry.

2. We are a small staff for a church our size, with its two campuses, and we are currently working at max capacity.

3. Because of point number two, the staff can become a bottle neck in the missional ideas and visions you guys have rather than a help.

 

So, it actually hinders us all at being on mission when you guys come to the Reality staff with your ideas, hoping to involve us. We want you to be free to just follow the Spirit, and be the Church Scattered on mission without having to bring everything back to the local church building and staff.

This new page on the website will hopefully solve the problem in part. Use it to share your ideas and needs with the larger body in order that that people might respond and partner with you. Yeah, yeah, we know, its a little risky for several reasons, but lets try it! Leave your plan/vision and hopes for partnership and your contact info here and pray that the Lord would direct the rest. We'll see how it goes. If Christ is glorified and mission goes forth, cool. If not, we know where the delete button is!

A quick tip: If you have a great idea about how to be on mission in your community, check around and see if there is a group already doing what you want to do and see if it would be beneficial for you to partner with them. This may be the better use of Kingdom time and resources, and why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to? If you find a particularly effective and Christ glorifying group of on mission people (E.g. A non-profit or para-church organization) feel free to share what they are up to here as a way to involve others who may be looking for a way to serve.
